Victor Wembanyama Suffers Ankle Injury and is Scratched from Game Against Dallas Mavericks

1 min read

San Antonio Spurs’ rising star, Victor Wembanyama, was forced to sit out a game against the Dallas Mavericks after suffering an ankle injury during his pre-game warm-up. The incident occurred when Wembanyama stepped on a ball boy’s foot while making a driving layup over a Spurs assistant coach. This caused his right ankle to roll, leading to a sprain.

Despite having his ankle retaped, the Spurs decided to keep Wembanyama out of the game after further evaluation. This is not the first time Wembanyama has experienced ankle issues this season. He had previously sat out a game against the Milwaukee Bucks due to soreness in his right ankle.

Wembanyama, who was picked first overall, has been a standout player this season, averaging 18.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks. He has played in all but three games this season, making him a crucial player for the Spurs.

Coach Gregg Popovich had planned to restrict Wembanyama’s minutes in the game against the Mavericks, but the ankle injury forced him to sit out. The Spurs will now have to find a way to compensate for the absence of their star player in their upcoming games.
