Team Fortress 2 Remake in Source 2 Engine Cancelled by Valve

1 min read

The fan-made remake of Team Fortress 2 in the Source 2 engine, a project three years in the making, has been cancelled due to a combination of development issues and a legal takedown from Valve. The team behind the project, Amper Software, had already put the development on hold due to code problems caused by major changes to the underlying engine, s&box. However, the legal takedown notice from Valve, flagging the use of TF2 assets without permission, served as the final blow for the project. Despite the refusal to allow the use of their IP in fan-made mods and spin-offs, Amper acknowledged that Valve’s actions were fair and legal. The team expressed their gratitude for the support and enthusiasm shown by fans throughout the project’s development.
