Studio Wildcard Unveils First In-Game Screenshot for ARK: Survival Ascended Unreal Engine 5 Remaster
2 min readStudio Wildcard has recently shared the first screenshot for their highly anticipated Unreal Engine 5 remaster of ARK: Survival Evolved, titled ARK: Survival Ascended. This screenshot showcases the game’s visuals using the in-game Photo Mode, providing players with a glimpse of what the game could potentially look like. However, it should be noted that games often appear more visually impressive in Photo Mode compared to actual gameplay.
Despite this, if Studio Wildcard manages to deliver visuals even remotely close to the quality depicted in the screenshot, ARK: Survival Ascended may emerge as one of the best-looking games of 2023. The stunning graphics have sparked the imagination of fans, who are even envisioning the possibility of a Jurassic Park-style horror game with similar visuals.
Originally scheduled for an August 2023 release, the developers made the decision to delay ARK: Survival Ascended until October of the same year. Surprisingly, despite it currently being mid-October, the game’s release date remains unknown. Nevertheless, the release of this screenshot provides some solace to eager fans, offering them a taste of what’s to come.
ARK: Survival Ascended will utilize Unreal Engine 5’s advanced technologies, including Nanite, Lumen, and RTXDI. These features are expected to enhance the game’s visuals and create a more immersive experience. However, it remains to be seen how demanding these features will be in terms of PC hardware requirements. Previous games that implemented Nanite and Lumen, such as Immortals of Aveum, Lords of the Fallen, and Fort Solis, necessitated powerful GPUs, especially for resolutions beyond 1440p.
Considering the original ARK’s troubled history with performance and optimization issues, there are concerns regarding whether Studio Wildcard will be able to deliver a solid PC product. To address these concerns, comprehensive benchmarking and testing will be conducted once ARK: Survival Ascended is released. This will provide players with a better understanding of the game’s performance and optimizations on various PC configurations.
