It was another remarkable day at the 2022 Winter Games, as history continued to be made in various events. Over the weekend, Team USA saw gold medal performances from Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner in the Olympics’ first-ever mixed team snowboard cross event on Day 8, and Erin Jackson became the first Black woman to medal in an individual speed skating event in Olympic history on Day 9. In figure skating, Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue brought home a bronze medal in ice dance with a total score of 218.02. Closing out their Olympic career, the duo delivered captivating performances in both the rhythm dance and free dance. Madison Chock and Evan Bates narrowly missed the podium, finishing in fourth place with a score of 214.77. Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker made their Olympic debut and placed 11th with a score of 189.74.

Freestyle skiing also saw success for Team USA. Maggie Voisin and Marin Hamill qualified for the women’s slopestyle final, showcasing their talent at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. In the women’s aerials final, Ashley Caldwell recorded the event’s best score of 105.6, surpassing her previous score of 103.92 in the first jump. Caldwell, along with fellow American Megan Nick, advanced to Final 2, placing them in contention for a medal.

In snowboarding, Hailey Langland represented Team USA in the women’s big air qualifier and advanced to the 12-person final. Langland, a 21-year-old snowboarding sensation, impressed with her performance and will have the chance to compete for a medal.

Team USA’s curling team ended their two-game losing streak by defeating Korea 8-6 in women’s round-robin play. With the victory, the U.S. improved to a 4-2 record and secured sole possession of third place. Their next opponent will be Switzerland.

As of Monday afternoon ET, Norway leads the medal table with 21 medals, followed closely by the Russian Olympic Committee with 18. Team USA sits in third place with a total of 16 medals – seven gold, six silver, and three bronze.
