Nintendo Brings Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age to Nintendo Switch Online

2 min read

Golden Sun, one of the beloved RPGs from the Game Boy Advance era, is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch Online. The game, along with its sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, will be available on the service starting January 17, 2024.

Golden Sun, developed by Camelot, was first released in 2001. It follows a group of four heroes wielding elemental magic on a quest to stop a team of villains from lighting four elemental lighthouses and plunging the world of Weyard into chaos. The game’s sequel, The Lost Age, was released two years later and continues the story from the perspective of some of the supposed villains, while the first game’s heroes are in pursuit.

Both games are known for their interesting and nuanced class systems, the hybrid ways magic, or Psynergy, could be used in and out of battle, and their incredible soundtracks by renowned composer Motoi Sakuraba.

Fans of the series have been eagerly waiting to play these games on a more modern platform, and the addition of Golden Sun and The Lost Age to Nintendo Switch Online is great news for them. Now, if only Camelot would consider resurrecting the franchise or doing a modern-day remake.

Rebekah Valentine, a senior reporter for IGN, broke the news of the release date in her article, “Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age Rise at Last on Nintendo Switch Online.” She also shared her thoughts on the games and their impact on the RPG genre.

Golden Sun and The Lost Age join the growing library of Game Boy Advance games on Nintendo Switch Online. Other titles include Metroid Fusion, Wario Land 4, and Mario Kart Super Circuit.

If you’re a fan of the series, mark your calendars for January 17, 2024, and get ready to revisit the world of Weyard.
