Microsoft’s Upcoming Surface Laptops to Feature AI Capabilities
2 min readMicrosoft is reportedly planning to introduce AI capabilities in its upcoming Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 models. According to Windows Central, these devices will be equipped with a next-generation neural processing unit (NPU) and will offer both Arm and Intel options. The Arm-based devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X chips, codenamed CADMUS. These PCs are designed to run the AI features that Microsoft plans to include in a future release of Windows.
In addition to the AI enhancements, the Surface Pro 10 is expected to feature a brighter display that supports HDR and has an anti-glare coating. It may also offer a resolution of either 2160 x 1440 or 2880 x 1920. The device could also have rounded corners, similar to the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio lineup, and support a new Type Cover with a button that opens Windows Copilot.
The Surface Laptop 6 is rumored to have a slightly larger 13.8-inch display, while the 15-inch model will remain the same size. The device is expected to have a rounded display with thinner bezels and may include new ports, such as two USB-C, one USB-A, and one Surface Connect charging port. It is also speculated to come with a haptic touchpad and a keyboard button dedicated to Windows Copilot.
Microsoft is expected to release the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 sometime next year. However, a more significant Surface Pro design change and a refreshed Surface Laptop Studio may be introduced in 2025, according to Windows Central.
