Major Update for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
4 min readWarhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, the critically acclaimed space-aristocrat RPG developed by Owlcat Games, has received a major update. The update, which was released last night, brings a plethora of changes to the game, including new voiced lines, visual effects, narrative tweaks, and performance improvements.
The update’s patch notes, which are almost 17,000 words long, detail the numerous changes made to the game. Some of the highlights include a full voiceover for the Prologue and companion chatter across the game, new visual effects and icons, and fixes for broken quests and dialogues. The developers have also made significant balance updates, including survivability and damage buffs to Space Marines, and nerfs for Officers.
One of the most significant changes in the update is the addition of a free respec for all current party members in existing saves. This is due to the magnitude of the changes made to the game, which will likely require players to rebuild their party. The developers have also made it possible to claim a bonus free respec in the usual High Factotum way for those who have already reached the point where respecs unlock.
The update, which the developers have called the “first major update,” includes a massive amount of fixes for incorrectly functioning abilities and items, as well as improvements for NPC AI and co-op desync fixes. The developers have also made several QoL UI improvements, including ability sorting, recommended skills, and visibility of quests and extractums on the map.
Marazhai and Yrliet now have access to many previously human-restricted items, and reputation thresholds for vendors have been lowered by about 20%. The combined changes are so major that players will likely want (and need) to rebuild their party, making the free respec a welcome addition.
The update’s size and scope are so significant that it could be considered the new major update for the game, surpassing the previous “third major patch.” The developers have made numerous adjustments to the game, resulting in an overall smoother game experience.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader has been praised for its engrossing, obscure, and exhausting gameplay. The update’s changes are expected to enhance the game’s experience, making it even more immersive and enjoyable for players.
If you’re a fan of the game or are considering giving it a try, the update is now available for download. The developers encourage players to take advantage of the free respec and explore the changes made to the game.
