LG’s DukeBox: A Retro-Futuristic Audio Device at CES 2024
2 min readThe Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 is fast approaching, and LG is one of the many tech companies gearing up to showcase their latest innovations. Among the intriguing gadgets LG will present at the event is the DukeBox, a unique audio device that combines old and new technologies.
Vacuum tube audio, a technology that has been in use for over a century, is renowned for its ability to produce a rich, warm sound quality. The DukeBox incorporates this technology, which is visible through the device’s transparent OLED panel. The audio device also features front-facing bottom speakers and 360-degree speakers on top, providing a more immersive listening experience.
The DukeBox offers a sleek, retro design that appeals to those who prefer a more traditional aesthetic. While it may resemble an old jukebox, this device is not limited to music playback. It can also stream movies or create a “fireplace” effect, with the visible vacuum tubes mimicking the appearance of flames.
LG’s CES 2024 booth will reportedly be twice the size of last year’s space. In addition to the DukeBox, LG will present other products, such as the CineBeam Qube, a 4K projector with a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution and a handle that could be mistaken for a crank. The release date and price for both the DukeBox and the CineBeam Qube have yet to be announced.
Stay tuned for more updates from CES 2024, where we will have the opportunity to test these products and provide an informed recommendation. Our coverage of the event will run from January 6-12.
