Judas: A New Sci-Fi Adventure from the Creators of BioShock
5 min readJudas, the latest game from the creators of the critically acclaimed BioShock series, has recently been unveiled to the public. The game, which is being developed by Ghost Story Games and helmed by former BioShock director Ken Levine, promises to deliver a unique and captivating sci-fi experience.
The latest trailer for Judas, which was shown during Sony’s State of Play event, offers a glimpse into the game’s intriguing narrative and immersive gameplay. The trailer opens with a creepy mannequin caressing the cheek of a piano player, setting the tone for the unsettling journey that lies ahead. The mannequin, which is perched atop a grand piano, is a clear nod to the iconic Fort Frolic piano from Rapture in BioShock.
The trailer then cuts to a character trapped in what appears to be a transparent iron maiden, before the player is introduced to the game’s protagonist. The protagonist, who is covered in dirt and blood, delivers a passionate speech to the viewer, warning them that they are “the frog in the pot, boiling” and promising to set them free “whether you like it or not.” This ominous message is followed by a computer confirmation of a “catastrophic systems failure” and a meteor crashing down into a fireball.
The gameplay footage that follows showcases the player pistol-whipping an evil Brum and using BioShock-style plasmids, such as fire, telekinesis, and lightning, to take down enemies. The enemies include a humanoid orange zebra and a buzzsaw-swinging chef robot. The action takes place in levels that blend futuristic space stations with Victorian fairgrounds, creating a visually stunning and surreal environment.
The trailer’s intense vocalising and haunting score add to the overall sense of unease and tension, making it clear that Judas is a game that will leave a lasting impression. Despite the lack of a release date, the trailer has generated a great deal of excitement among fans of the BioShock series and those who are looking for a new and immersive sci-fi adventure.
Judas is set to be released on Steam, Epic, and PS5, but a release date has yet to be announced. Fans of the BioShock series and those who are looking for a new and captivating sci-fi adventure should keep an eye out for Judas, as it promises to deliver a unique and unforgettable experience.
