How Long Does It Take to Beat Spider-Man 2?
3 min readSpider-Man 2 is an action-adventure game filled with web-swinging action, an expanded New York City, and a multitude of villains to face. But just how long does it take to complete the game? In this article, we will explore the different playtimes of members from the IGN team and how they prioritized their activities during their gameplay. So, let’s dive in and find out!
One player from the team finished the story in a speedy 18 hours, while another took a more leisurely pace and spent 25 hours before reaching the credits. It’s important to note that everyone plays games differently, so the individual playtimes can vary.
One player, who usually focuses on the story, found themselves captivated by Spider-Man 2’s New York City and engaged in every side activity possible. This player spent a total of 25 hours on the game, thoroughly enjoying the web-swinging mechanics and completing various tasks. They even felt that they could have played for even longer if they hadn’t encountered locked side quests due to story progression. After completing the main story, this player had only a few side quests and miscellaneous trophies left before achieving the platinum trophy. Overall, they spent 27 hours exploring everything the game had to offer.
Another player spent around 28 hours playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Approximately 19 hours were dedicated solely to the main story, but this player also took the time to experiment with the new abilities of Spider-Man. They aimed to have a balanced experience by tackling side quests and collecting various in-game items while uncovering the game’s intricate plot. This approach allowed them to unlock powerful abilities and unique suits that made the story missions more enjoyable. After completing the story, they only needed an additional 2 hours to collect remaining items and earn the platinum trophy.
A third player followed a similar pattern and finished the story in about 19 hours. Their main objective was to complete the story as quickly as possible to avoid spoilers from other players. This left them with incomplete collectibles and side missions. After achieving the platinum trophy, this player continued to spend another 40 hours in the game to fulfill their responsibilities as a member of IGN’s wiki team, which involved creating videos and capturing screenshots. Despite exceeding a typical playtime, this player still found joy in the game.
Another player focused primarily on the main story and spent around 25 hours to reach its conclusion. They occasionally participated in side activities and stopped crimes when they occurred but remained mostly focused on the main missions. They opted not to use fast travel, which may have slightly prolonged their playtime. Additionally, they enjoyed swinging and flying through the game’s environment, relishing the sheer joy of traversing. The player intends to platinum the game and estimates another 4-5 hours for completing side content.
Lastly, one player completed the main story of Spider-Man 2 in approximately 18 hours. Initially, this player mixed in side missions and activities with the main quests, but eventually decided to focus solely on progressing the story due to the repetitive nature of open-world tasks. The game consists of 31 main missions, and although there isn’t a “point of no return,” certain times during the game restrict access to side missions. After finishing the story, this player spent an additional nine hours to complete all remaining optional tasks and achieved 100% completion, including the highly sought-after platinum trophy, totaling 27 hours of gameplay.
