2 min read

The Hopkinton Public Library Foundation has recently announced the launch of a series of free gaming events at the Hopkinton Public Library. These events are specifically designed for middle and high school students in the local community. Pre-teens and teens will have the opportunity to enjoy various gaming systems, including Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and Oculus Quest 2. These gaming systems will be provided by One Up Games, creating an engaging and exciting gaming experience for the attendees.

The gaming events are scheduled to take place on the early release dates at Hopkinton Middle School and Hopkinton High School throughout the academic year. The next event is set to occur this Friday, October 20th, from 1-4 p.m. The first gaming event, which took place on September 15th, attracted over 80 young adults who gathered at the library to game and have fun.

Looking towards 2024, the gaming events will be held on three Fridays from 1-4 p.m. These dates include January 26th, March 15th, and May 10th. The events are suitable for individuals aged 9 and up, and no registration is required to participate.

In addition to the gaming events, the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation will also be providing funding for a year-long series of Music and Movement programs. These programs will take place monthly on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday morning, and will cater to babies and toddlers up to 5 years old, along with their caregivers. The Music and Movement programs have gained significant popularity, attracting an average of approximately 75-80 attendees each month.

The upcoming Music and Movement program will be held on Wednesday, November 15th, from 10:30-11:15 a.m. and will feature performer Julie Stepanek. To find out more about future programs, interested individuals can visit the hopkintonlibrary.org/calendar for further information.
