Former Las Vegas Raiders Defensive End Chandler Jones Arrested for Violating Domestic Violence Temporary Protection Order
2 min readFormer Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones has been arrested for the second time in one month for violating a domestic violence temporary protection order. The arrest occurred in Las Vegas, according to the Clark County Detention Center records.
Jones, 33, was previously arrested on September 28 on two charges of violating a domestic violence protective order. The recent arrest stems from a September 12 incident, during which Jones allegedly arrived at a woman’s home “rambling incoherently” without shoes on and carrying a flashlight, as reported by The Athletic. The woman had a protection order against Jones and claims to have been a victim of domestic battery, with Jones being the alleged perpetrator.
In the subsequent incident on September 28, the woman asserts that Jones was on her property and later sent her videos of him burning items that appeared to have been taken from her home. Following this, the Raiders released Jones, which marked the end of his tenure with the team just over a year after signing a three-year, $51 million contract.
Prior to his arrests, Jones had been at odds with the organization, making cryptic social media posts that accused the team of restricting his access to their facility. He also mentioned in a since-deleted post that he had been taken to a hospital “against his will” by the Las Vegas Fire Department in September, sharing a handwritten journal entry.
In response to the arrests, the Raiders released a statement expressing their hope that Jones receives the necessary care, while head coach Josh McDaniels emphasized the team’s desire for the well-being of all their players.
Jones has not participated in any Raiders games this season before his release. During the previous season, he recorded 4.5 sacks, ranking second on the team, and 15 quarterback hits in 15 games.
