Criticism of Biden Administration’s Border Policies
3 min readThe Biden administration has faced intense criticism over its handling of the U.S.-Mexico border. The administration’s policies have been blamed for exacerbating the crisis at the border, resulting in record numbers of migrants and illegal entries into the United States.
One of the most notable criticisms came in the form of a Valentine’s Day meme posted by the White House on X, which made fun of House Speaker Mike Johnson over the failed border deal. The meme was accompanied by a poem that read, “Roses are red, Violets are blue, The border deal was crushed, Because of you.”
Critics quickly pointed out the Biden administration’s policies that have contributed to the crisis at the border. Doug Powers wrote, “If I was the House Speaker the response would be something like … Roses are Red, Passion Flowers are Azure, For Three F***ing Years, You Claimed the Border Was Secure.” Another user added, “Fixed it: Roses are red, Commies vote blue, You had the House for two years, This one is on you.”
Jake Schneider, who runs the Republican Party’s research arm, also weighed in, “Did Speaker Johnson halt deportations? Stop Remain in Mexico? Halt border wall construction? End the border emergency? Unilaterally resettle millions of unvetted illegal immigrants? Nope that was all you, Big Guy.”
One user even posted an image of young school children working on laptops with the caption, “Image of The White House staff posting on X.” Derek Hunter responded to the meme with, “The President is 500 years old and his staff is 12.”
Despite the criticism, President Biden has urged Johnson to bring to the House a bipartisan national security bill passed by the Senate that had several border provisions. However, the Senate passed a $95 billion national security supplemental package to assist Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan without the border measures.
In his remarks, Biden urged Johnson to immediately bring the bill to the floor, saying, “there’s no question that if the Senate bill was put on the floor in the House of Representatives, it would pass.”
The criticism of the Biden administration’s border policies is not new. In fact, the administration has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle for its handling of the border crisis. Some Democrats have called for more resources to be dedicated to addressing the root causes of migration, while Republicans have criticized the administration for its lack of enforcement of existing immigration laws.
Despite the criticism, the Biden administration has maintained that its policies are necessary to address the humanitarian crisis at the border and to ensure that the United States remains a welcoming and inclusive country. However, many Americans remain skeptical of the administration’s ability to effectively address the crisis and to secure the border.
In conclusion, the Biden administration’s border policies have been a contentious issue, with critics arguing that the administration’s policies have exacerbated the crisis at the border and contributed to record numbers of migrants and illegal entries into the United States. Despite the administration’s efforts to address the crisis, many Americans remain skeptical of its ability to effectively address the issue and to secure the border.
