Congressional Ethics Violations in 2023: Watchdog Accuses Office of Congressional Ethics of Inaction
1 min readThe Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) has accused the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) of failing to protect the interests of taxpayers by not acting against members of Congress for misusing public funds for political purposes. FACT named OCE the top ethics violator of 2023. Among the members of Congress accused of misusing official resources are Reps. Ilhan Omar, Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush, and Eric Swalwell. The allegations revolve around the use of TikTok, whose parent company, ByteDance, has come under fire for being a spy app. The OCE has not responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. FACT says the alleged violations are easy to prove because the posts are public. The OCE has reprimanded similar violations in the past. The failure of the OCE to act against these violations erodes public trust in Congress and those bodies intended to hold them accountable. Thomas Phippen is an Editor at Fox News.
