Charlotte Hornets’ Miles Bridges Faces Arrest Warrant for Violating Protective Order

2 min read

Miles Bridges, a player for the Charlotte Hornets, finds himself in legal trouble with an arrest warrant issued against him for alleged violations of a protective order. This warrant is linked to a domestic incident involving his girlfriend, Mychelle Johnson, who is also the mother of his two children. Last year, Bridges faced three felony charges related to the incident but managed to avoid jail time.

As part of an agreement, Bridges pleaded no contest to injuring a child’s parent and was issued a 10-year protective order that prohibited any contact with Johnson. However, recent developments suggest that he may have violated this protective order. The warrant was reportedly issued in January, approximately two months after the initial plea deal.

The NBA took action in response to the incident, suspending Bridges for 30 games. However, the league credited him for 20 days “already served” due to his absence from the 2022-23 season.

As part of the legal agreement, Bridges now faces a series of requirements, including completing 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and 52 weeks of parenting classes. Additionally, he must carry out 100 hours of community service and undergo weekly drug tests. During his three-year probation, he will be prohibited from owning guns or ammunition. Bridges is also obligated to pay a $300 restitution fine and a $500 domestic violence fine, with a restitution hearing scheduled for January 13.

Bridges, known for his contributions to the Charlotte Hornets in his first four NBA seasons, has averaged 13.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. However, these legal issues cast a shadow on his professional career.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriffs’ Office confirmed the existence of the arrest warrant for DV Protective Order Violation, along with an un-served criminal summons for DV Protective Order Violation, Misdemeanor Child Abuse, and Injury to personal property. The situation remains a matter of concern for both Bridges and the Charlotte Hornets, as they navigate the legal implications of these allegations.
