Apple MacBook Shipments Predicted to Decline in 2023, says Top Analyst
1 min readAccording to top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, shipments for Apple’s MacBook computers are anticipated to decline by around 30% year over year, totaling 17 million units in 2023. Kuo suggests that the new 15-inch MacBook Air’s demand has decreased significantly after the back-to-school shopping period, leading to lower MacBook shipments during Apple’s fourth quarter, which is usually important for the company due to holiday sales.
Kuo attributes the decline in MacBook shipments to several factors. Firstly, he mentions the waning consumer appeal of Apple’s mini-LED and silicon technology. Additionally, he notes that there is declining demand from customers who are working from home. As a result, shipments of the 15-inch MacBook Air are projected to decline by over 20% this year.
Kuo further predicts that Apple will not release any new products during the fourth quarter, allowing them to clear inventory and develop new product and marketing strategies for the following year.
Apple is yet to respond to CNBC’s request for comment on the matter.
