“Fox News Reports: Biden’s Approval Rating on Immigration Plummets to 26% Amidst Worsening Border Crisis”
3 min readFox News, a leading news media outlet, reported on February 20, 2024, that President Joe Biden’s approval rating on immigration policy has hit an all-time low of 26%. This dismal rating comes as the border crisis continues to worsen, with record-breaking numbers of migrant encounters at the southern border.
According to a Monmouth University poll released on the same day, only 26% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of immigration, while a staggering 76% disapprove. This figure represents a significant decline from previous polls, indicating a growing dissatisfaction with the administration’s approach to immigration.
When broken down by party affiliation, the poll found that 54% of Democrats approved of Biden’s handling of immigration, but only 21% of independents and a mere 2% of Republicans shared the same sentiment. These numbers suggest that Biden’s approval rating on immigration is not only low overall but also lacks broad support across party lines.
The poll also revealed that Biden’s overall approval rating as president stood at 38%, with 58% disapproving. Vice President Kamala Harris’ approval rating was similarly low, with 35% approving and 58% disapproving.
Moreover, the poll found that only 14% approved of Congress’ job performance, with 79% disapproving. Additionally, just 17% believed the country was heading in the right direction, while 69% thought it was on the wrong track.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed last month that there were a record 302,000 migrant encounters at the southern border in December 2023. This number surpassed the previous monthly record set in September and marked the first time the number had ever exceeded 300,000. Of these encounters, nearly 250,000 occurred between ports of entry.
The staggering numbers from the southern border followed a record-setting FY 23, during which there were over 2.4 million migrant encounters. This figure represented a significant increase from FY 22, which saw 1.7 million encounters.

Americans rallied and looked to a better future back then and now it just keeps getting worse by the day.” Another user suggested, “You may want to read the book of Revelation. This isn’t anything compared to how bad it is going to get when Jesus has had enough and begins the seal judgements. Folks, Accept him before it is too late.”
Despite the low approval rating on immigration, some users defended Biden and argued that he was doing the best he could under difficult circumstances. One user stated, “There hasn’t been one Republican to run for President in the last 50 years that Democrats haven’t accused of being a threat to democracy. Everyone is a threat to democracy unless you’re a Democrat.” Another user countered, “They have a good reason to accuse Trump as he literally tried to overthrow the 2020 election with fake electors.”
The discussion also touched on the potential impact of immigration on the upcoming election, with some users suggesting that the border crisis could negatively affect Democrats. One user commented, “We will get slick Galvin with the greased back hair.” Another user replied, “It’ll never be fixed.”
