Prominent billionaires, including George Soros, support Biden’s re-election efforts with six-figure contributions

2 min read

According to filings reviewed by Fox News Digital, George Soros and other prominent billionaires have provided significant financial support to the re-election efforts of President Biden. These deep-pocketed donors made six-figure contributions to the Biden Victory Fund between July and September, contributing to a joint fundraising venture that includes Biden’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee, all 50 state Democratic parties, and Washington, D.C.’s Democratic committee. Under this structure, wealthy benefactors can donate up to $929,600 each per election cycle.

Joint fundraising committees have gained popularity among political parties in recent years, as they enable donors to contribute larger amounts to one entity, which then distributes the funds among the various groups involved. In this case, George Soros and his son Alex, who recently assumed control of the Open Society Foundations network, a major funder of left-wing nonprofits and causes, donated $6,600 each to Biden’s campaign on June 30. Soros later sent his largest contribution yet, $250,000, to the Biden Victory Fund on September 29. In the last presidential election, George Soros gave $500,000 to the Biden Victory Fund and contributed millions more to super PACs supporting him. Alex Soros added $721,300 to the Biden Victory Fund in 2020.

It is worth noting that Alex Soros has enjoyed frequent access to the Biden White House, visiting at least 20 times since the president took office. He has also engaged with prominent Democrats, such as Vice President Kamala Harris and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Despite these contributions and connections, a spokesperson for George Soros did not respond to a request for comment.

Other billionaires who supported Biden’s joint fundraising committee in the third quarter include Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs, who donated $929,000 in September. Powell Jobs is the founder of the Emerson Collective, a private foundation focused on climate, education, journalism, and other issues. Additionally, the Biden Victory Fund received maximum contributions of $929,600 from individuals like sports executive Casey Wasserman, casino magnate Neil Bluhm, real estate mogul Kurt Rappaport, businessman Haim Saban, and philanthropist Ellen Bronfman Hauptman.

During the third quarter, the Biden Victory Fund raised over $48 million, with $17.75 million being funneled into Biden’s campaign in late September. The fund also transferred $5 million to the Democratic National Committee.

In conclusion, George Soros and other prominent billionaires have shown their support for President Biden’s re-election efforts by making substantial contributions to the Biden Victory Fund. These donations, along with the joint fundraising structure, have allowed wealthy benefactors to contribute significantly, enabling the funds to be distributed among various groups supporting Biden’s candidacy.
