Matty M to Play Vinny V in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

2 min read

Fans of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth game will be excited to learn that Matty M, known for his work in Critical Role, will be providing the voice for Vincent Valentine, also known as Vinny V. Having showcased his talents in various game characters, such as Minsc in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Mercer has established himself as a versatile voice actor.

During a New York Comic Con panel, which also featured other cast members from the game, Mercer expressed his excitement about being part of the project, stating, “I’d need a full panel on its own to express how excited I am to be amongst this incredible group of people, to be part of a game and a character that means so much to me.” He also reached out to Steve Blum, the previous voice actor for Valentine, to seek his blessing, which was warmly granted. Mercer further expressed his gratitude and honor to be involved in a game that had a significant impact on him, stating, “No game has had the impact on me quite like FF7 did, and to be a part of it, let alone one of my favorite characters, is an honor beyond words.”

While Mercer’s portrayal of Valentine will not be playable, players can look forward to his character joining their party as an “Accompanying Character” at certain points in the game. As fans eagerly await the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on February 24th, Mercer’s involvement adds to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the game.
