Davante Adams Expresses Frustration with Role in Raiders Offense

2 min read

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams recently voiced his frustration with his role in the team’s offense. Despite the Raiders winning two straight games, Adams has expressed disappointment with his seemingly diminished role and lack of production.

In an interview, Adams stated, “I’m a human being and I have extremely high standards for myself in this offense.” He has been targeted just nine times in the past two games, resulting in six catches for 74 yards and no touchdowns. Adams emphasized that his main goal is not just to win games, but to achieve greatness and have a significant impact on the game.

The star receiver has not scored a touchdown since Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which he had 13 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He is also dealing with a right shoulder injury sustained in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Adams expressed frustration with not being a prominent part of the offensive game plan. He believes that his abilities can contribute to a better performance, and when that doesn’t happen, he becomes frustrated. Adams stated, “It’s not about me, but I’m one of the bigger pieces as to why this offense is going to go. And if I’m not getting it, then that’s obviously not according to plan.”

Raiders coach Josh McDaniels echoed Adams’ frustrations, emphasizing that great players like Adams want to contribute as much as they can to help the team win. McDaniels acknowledged Adams’ leadership and influence on the team and stressed the importance of allowing their best players to impact the game.

Adams appreciated McDaniels’ understanding but mentioned that recognition alone doesn’t solve the issue. He believes the team needs to find a way to get the offense going collectively. Adams recognized the challenge his quarterbacks face due to the attention he receives from defenses, but he remains optimistic that they can overcome these difficulties.

The lack of continuity at the quarterback position has also potentially complicated matters for Adams and the Raiders’ offense. With three different quarterbacks taking snaps this season, including injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo, the team has faced challenges in building chemistry and executing their game plans consistently.

Ultimately, Adams wants to see more consistent success from the offense in order for the team to reach its full potential. He understands the complexities involved in throwing to a receiver who faces constant double- and triple-teams but remains determined to make things happen with his teammates.

Adams and the Raiders will continue their quest to improve their offensive performance as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Chicago Bears. Despite his frustrations, Adams remains focused on contributing to the team’s success and helping the offense reach its desired level of play.
